This page is used to inform visitors regarding my policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information if anyone decided to use my Service.

If you choose to use my Service, then you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. The Personal Information that I collect is used for providing and improving the Service. I will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

What personal data I collect

Mobile Beaconer uses Bluetooth and location-related device data during user-started scanning and beacon listening sessions so it can discover nearby Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons and detect saved beacons. This processing may continue while the app is minimized during an active session, for example while a phone is in a pocket or purse, and stops when the user stops scanning or listening.

For Mobile Beaconer, nearby beacon identifiers and related proximity information are processed on the device. I do not sell this information and I do not transmit your location data or beacon scan results to me or to third parties, except as described below for optional crash reporting.

If you grant notification permission, Mobile Beaconer can show scan status notifications and nearby beacon alerts during a user-started session.

I collect the following data when the app crashes and crash reporting has been enabled by the user (via third-party services like Crashlytics/Firebase):

  • Device type and model
  • Operating system version
  • App version
  • Crash logs / stack trace
  • Device identifiers (e.g. advertising ID or instance ID)
  • IP address (may be collected)
  • Date/time of crash

Purpose of processing and legal basis

For Mobile Beaconer, Bluetooth scanning, location-related device access and notifications are used to provide the app's user-requested beacon discovery and beacon listening features. The legal basis for this processing is your consent and your request to use these features.

If crash reporting is enabled, I use crash information solely for diagnosing and fixing bugs, improving app quality and stability. My legal basis for crash reporting is legitimate interest in providing a stable and functioning app to users. I ensure that such processing is limited, proportionate, and necessary for that aim.

How long I keep your data

Mobile Beaconer processes beacon scanning and proximity information on device during an active user-started session. Saved beacon records remain on the device until you delete them.

If crash reporting is enabled, I retain crash reports for as long as is reasonably necessary to understand and diagnose bugs. Once a bug is fixed, or after a reasonable retention period, older crash reports are deleted or anonymized by me or my service provider.

Sharing and data transfers

Mobile Beaconer location-related processing and beacon scan results are used on device for app functionality and are not shared by me with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

If crash reporting is enabled, I share crash reports with my service provider Google LLC, which provides the Firebase Crashlytics service. This information is used solely to understand and fix app crashes.

Crash reports may be processed on servers located outside the European Economic Area (EEA), including in the United States. Google applies safeguards to ensure that personal data transferred outside the EEA is protected in line with GDPR requirements. These safeguards include the use of the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, adherence to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

I do not sell or otherwise share personal data with other third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

Your Rights (EEA Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights under GDPR:

  • Access – request a copy of the personal data held about you
  • Rectification – request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Erasure – request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”) under certain conditions
